Information will be more searchable and relevant to the needs of the military community, said Zona Lewis, online application content manager for the DoD's Office of Military Community and Family Policy.

The technology has been updated so that mobile users no longer need another web address. Whether you're pulling up a site on your phone, iPad, or laptop, the technology adapts to that medium. And while the mobile version of the site doesn't currently have access to podcasts or webcasts, it does. The newly released version has that capability.

This new site will improve. "The topic of military life" to make it easier to find what you're looking for. And it will prioritize military-specific information over general information people may find elsewhere.
The layout will be tidier and more organized. This will move the popular but rare DoD MWR library to the front of the website. for soldiers and their families to find links to digital books and other resources. In addition, "MyTraining Hub" develops its website with various training programs for service members and their families. and for program and service providers
Officials launched a push to upgrade the site last year, Lewis said, and have been highly engaged with service members and family members on how well the Military OneSource site meets their needs as a central online portal for information and services.
This includes "usage" studies, feedback from service members and their families, i.e. people. "I don't know how many there are," he said, "but they're rare. They like a lot of properties. But we need to improve navigation."
Find Support For Your Military Family With Military Onesource
Authorities conducted a site navigation study with soldiers and their family members. Participants said they found it very difficult to look through 23 topics of military life to find what they were looking for, Lewis said.
Participants said that the "Secret Help" area was effective. So officials took best practices in the region and regrouped the 23 topics of military life into six themes: Family and Relationships. health and welfare; finance and law education and work Life on and off base and deployment and change.
Users also feel that the amount of content is a bit excessive. “What people are looking for is content that relates to the military specifically,” says Lewis, but the website also has a lot of general information that can be found elsewhere. For example, information on natural disaster preparedness is quite extensive. instead of focusing on military-specific readiness
The staff analyzes what site visitors see. and the number of times certain content was viewed in 2013 and 2014. The program manager then determines what data should be stored. and what to remove

All content has been rewritten to better suit the needs of the military community. It has bulleted and numbered lists that are easier to scan. There will be a brief description of the content. with the option to "Read more" using more images to make the page more interesting.
As part of this process, the Military Youth on the Move website will be discontinued, Lewis said, with content, podcasts, posters and other programming moving to Military OneSource.
Lewis says these changes are just the first step. Authorities are asking users to comment on the new site and share it if they encounter search problems.
