The spokesperson referred all further questions about the incident to OSI. Base officials have not said how the individual gained access to the base or whether he is in custody.
A spokesperson confirmed to Air Force Magazine on February 5 that the intrusion also caused the base to temporarily suspend the Trusted Traveler program.
The program, launched by JBA in 2015, allows "eligible [Common Access Card] cardholders with confirmation of escort rights" for up to 10 people traveling in their vehicle without prior notice to the support team. Explained the 11th wing release.
The pause means visitors will need to be given advance notice — and pre-approval — for a visit to the facility at least 72 hours before their planned trip to Andrews. And even after they are completely cleared to gain access to the installation, they will still need to present valid identification to get into its gates, according to the press release.
