If you have shot a gun in the past, we have good news for you! The way you use Glock sights is basically the same as most other guns with iron sights. Customizing how you use them is, among other things, key to beating your targets to death.

But before we get too worked up about sights, let's talk about the typical sight structure on the Glock.

Depending on which model of Glock you buy, your gun will be equipped with one of three factory sights. Most likely, you will use fixed polymer sights or adjustable polymer sights. The third one you may come across is the Glock steel night sight, which is great for low light situations.

This image shows how your sight will appear when you align your sight with the target. The alignment should be whether you use the Glock or other iron sights. You can read more about scenic photography on the GoHunt website.

If you are passionate about your Glock pistol, you may want to change the factory settings for something a little easier. We do not recommend doing this yourself; the gunsmith will have the right tools and can help advise you on which sights you want to visit.

Finally, the standard Glock sight is a great tool to help you aim your gun, especially in self-defense situations.

Now that we've talked about sights, let's move on to holding the Glock and how it can affect your aiming and shooting abilities.

While not all guns are held exactly the same, we'll cover the basics here. Holding the gun correctly plays an important role in understanding how to aim the Glock.

Try to forget everything you've seen in the movies about how to hold a gun because they probably did it wrong. Here's a breakdown of the proper way to hold the Glock:

When handling ammunition, use the 70/30 rule. Your supporting hand should do 70% of the squeezes and your dominant hand should cover the remaining 30%, allowing your dominant hand to focus on trigger control.

There is a lot of information about gun safety and how to shoot a gun properly. Therefore, we highly recommend taking a firearms safety course if you are new to shooting.

Whether you are new to pistol shooting or struggling to adjust accuracy when shooting a Glock, you have come to the right place. The key to improving your accuracy is to first find your shot.

Do you find yourself shooting lower left with a Glock pistol (or lower right for lefties)? If so, you are not alone. Shooting left low counts for most cases of accuracy when firing guns. Let's break down the most common reasons people shoot low on the left side and how to fix them.

Starting with the most common is, of course, impulse control. One of the best Glock accuracy tips is to make sure you don't hit the trigger or tear your sight while shooting. Breathe through the scene, get a clear visual image, and work on smooth, direct stimuli.

Make sure you don't squeeze your whole hand when pulling the trigger. Your trigger finger should move independently. Having the right grip helps you move the trigger finger straight. Instead of gripping the gun with your dominant hand, use your support hand more and let your dominant hand focus on the trigger pull.

Another common reason you can shoot low with a Glock is expected recoil. If this sounds like you, don't worry. You are not alone. It's a natural reaction to want to scream when something explodes in front of you. That slight movement, unfortunately, causes your mouth to move away from the target.

The best way to practice this is to visit the range and use dummy spins. Dry firing does not have the same "explosion" as live bullets and is therefore less effective than live bullets. Using dummy rounds feels similar to straight rounds and can be more effective in practicing your shooting if you don't want to shoot straight rounds at that range.

Nothing Wrong With A Stock Glock

Now, before you think you're going to turn pro and head to the range to test your new knowledge, here are a few more techniques to try when learning how to shoot a Glock.

Remember that becoming a good marker takes time, practice and patience. We mentioned using dummy rounds over dry sights to specifically increase accuracy, but dry sights are still a great method to use and are safe and practical. Always pay attention to your breathing. This may seem small, but it is a key part of impulse control.

Make sure you have a strong stance to shoot; your feet should be shoulder width apart with your hands on your Glock and your knees slightly bent with your eyes forward. Being aware of these can be very important in knowing how to improve your grip or shot to improve your accuracy.

Now that you've read our tips and tricks on how to aim the Glock, it's time to get to the range and practice. If you're still struggling with how to shoot your Glock, or any other handgun for that matter, talk to a local trainer or other expert for more detailed instructions.

Before explaining what a battle scene drawing is, it is important to understand what a scene alignment is. Sight alignment is when the shooter's eyes, back sight, and front sight all line up…

Once you have a sight alignment, you get a picture of your sight by covering everything on a specific target (when aiming)…

The current Combat Sight (sometimes called the 3 Dot Hold or Combat Hold), is when the halfway dot on your front sight completely covers your target's line of sight.

This is very different from the 6 O'Clock Hold (which puts the top of your sight under the bullseye or the target in general) and Center Hold (where the top of the sight includes the bulls on target perfectly).

Some people compare it to using a red dot sight on a rifle, where you just put the point on the target exactly where you want it…

The concept behind the Drawing Combat Sight is pretty much the same… Place the dot on your front sight exactly where you want it to be.

Additionally, Combat Sight Picture does a good job of keeping your gun level with the target, which is useful when you have targets at several different distances.
